When her fiance suffered a medical emergency and their planned elopement and relationship fell apart, she could have quietly drawn a line under the chapter.

Instead, Bridget Devaney turned to the internet with a proposal that sounded equal parts hopeful and improbable - come to Northern Ireland and celebrate the wedding that never happened.
