An expensive floating eyesore has marred views in the port of Trieste, northern Italy, for more than four years, and it is costing Italian taxpayers millions to maintain, the city’s mayor says.

Russian oligarch Andrey Igorevich Melnichenko’s “Sailing Yacht A,” one of the world’s largest sailing vessels and worth around $600 million, was in Trieste for maintenance in March 2022 when Russia’s invasion of Ukraine led to widespread sanctions and seizures of Russian assets.
