A Hong Kong teenager has been sentenced to eight years in prison for throwing sulphuric acid over a Singaporean tourist in a premeditated attack that left her with second-degree burns and permanent scarring.

Anson Kew, now 19, was 17 when he ambushed 36-year-old Jiang Wen as she was getting into a private car in Wan Chai on 9 June 2025. He had been promised HK$10,000 (US$1,280) for carrying out the assault.
