Prince Harry says he wants to reconcile with Charles and William following six-year family feud

Prince Harry wants to make amends with his estranged family.

The Duke of Sussex, who returned to live in England with his family in August, admitted in an interview with GQ that reconciling with Prince William and the King was the most important thing.

However, he hinted that not everyone in the family was keen for the reunion.

Prince Harry told Zach Baron on the One More Question podcast that he wanted "it to work out" between his family.

"With everything else that's going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile. That's the key point," he said, explaining that he often finds himself talking about "broken relationships."

The Duke admitted that he grieves his relationship with his older brother, Prince William, and that sibling feuds were relatable for a lot of families around the world.

"There's sibling disagreements. Broken relationships between kids and their parents. That continues to come up with me the whole time by people that I speak to, so I know how relatable it is," he said.

He added: "That's partly probably why there's so much fascination…Then people maybe look at us and go, 'how are you going to work it out?'"

He admitted that not everyone was keen to see the family reunite, adding: "Some people don't want it to work out - I want it to work out."

The Prince admitted that while "scars stick around forever", he believed he could still repair the "wound".

A Sussex spokesperson later confirmed his comments on others not wanting to work things out were "absolutely not intended as a swipe at his brother or any other member of his family."

"The comment was made in a general context and was not directed at his family in any way," the spokesperson said.

Tensions between Prince Harry and the royal family came to a head in 2020 when Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as working royals.

The release of Prince Harry's memoir Spare and scathing media interviews, such as Meghan and Harry's tell-all interview with Oprah, drove a deeper wedge between the royals and the couple.

The Sussexes are reportedly on speaking terms with King Charles again following the rift, but Harry is not believed to have spoken to William in several years.

The brothers were last seen together publicly at the 2023 coronation - where Harry was relegated to the third row, behind all the other members of the family.

Harry and Meghan returned to the UK at the end of August with the aim of enrolling their children in British schools.

He told Mr Baron that he moved back for "opportunities, for the family, being able to put the kids in a British schools meant a lot to me".

He added: "I didn't know how important it was to me, I always thought it was going to be something I would try and do or that we would try and do, but now they've been in school for two weeks they're loving it and it's just giving them a whole different experience – don't worry I'm not criticising American schools."

The couple were spotted together at their first public engagement last week. However, they are not set to participate in the upcoming Oman state visit.
