Newlyweds is an NBC comedy airing Fridays at 8:30 p.m. ET, starring Téa Leoni and Tim Daly as two people who marry quickly.
The show features Jamie Lee Curtis as co-creator, executive producer, and recurring guest star.
Leoni and Daly are real-life newlyweds, adding a personal parallel to their screen roles.
Airing Friday nights in the fall, Newlyweds stars actual married couple Téa Leoni and Tim Daly in a "later-in-life love story about a free-spirited woman and a buttoned-up professor who marry impetuously after a whirlwind courtship," per the official logline. Series co-creator Jamie Lee Curtis executive produces and guest-stars in a recurring role.
How to Watch
Watch the series premiere of Newlyweds Friday, October 23 at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC and next day on Peacock.
Daly plays James, a recently-divorced man who falls for Jeanie (Leoni) the moment they meet, kicking off an opposites-attract relationship that challenges them both in hilarious ways.
Newlyweds is an NBC sitcom homecoming for Daly, who starred on Wings for eight seasons from 1990 to 1997.
Newlyweds follows Jeanie (Leoni) and James (Daly), a middle-school teacher and a professor who meet on a blind date they're both skeptical about — until they lay eyes on each other. Their romance quickly leads to an impulsive elopement, and Jeanie and James must intertwine the lives they led separately for so long.
Their circle includes Jeanie's kids, James' new research assistant, his ex-wife, Claudia (Curtis), and the pair's mutual friend, Dan.
While no one would call their 10-year courtship a "whirlwind," the two starring in NBC's newest comedy mirrors their real-life milestone. Leoni and Daly tied the knot in a small, family-only ceremony in July 2025, officially making them newlyweds on and off-camera.

In 2015, Daly spoke about his relationship with Leoni in a conversation with LifeMinute.
"Well, I actually asked Téa to marry me, I think, about nine years ago, and she said, 'Yes, let's just wait a minute.' Then nine years later, she asked me, and I was like, 'Yeah, I already asked!'" Daly revealed. "So anyway, we got it done. I like being married to Téa." Find out whether James says the same about Jeannie when Newlyweds premieres October 23 on NBC.

Why Jamie Lee Curtis wanted to make Newlyweds
Newlyweds is exactly the kind of project Curtis wants to be doing right now. As the Oscar winner shared during NBCUniversal's Backlot Pass event in August, she loves the sitcom format and "begged" her agents to find her one to work on. Having previously starred in four-season sitcom Anything But Love from 1989-1992, Curtis said sitcoms in particular have a nostalgic factor for audiences that provides warmth and comfort.
"I actually think this whole nostalgia of what sitcoms bring you into your house, things do come around," she said at NBCU's event.
Téa Leoni and Tim Daly wanted to work together again after Madam Secretary
“We were kind of sniffing around to play together again,” Leoni said during NBCUniversal’s Backlot Pass event. “We had a lot of fun on Madam Secretary. The world got darker, and we wanted to get lighter. We thought we’ve done this particular medium, and loved it, and we wanted to spend our days together.”
Daly echoed Leoni's sentiments, adding, “Listen, we spent six years pretending to be married on TV, and I would get to do it again, but we actually are married. It’s a miracle, it’s really fun, it’s cool, and we still like each other.”
