Anthropic filed for an initial public offering Monday in what could become one of the largest stock market debuts in history — even as its CEO has warned that the advanced AI that the company and its competitors create poses an existential risk to humanity.

Anthropic, the US-based company behind the Claude chatbot, did not disclose in its filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission how many shares it intends to sell nor at what price. Anthropic’s filing with the SEC sets the stage for the company to go public and begin trading on the stock market as soon as the week of November 16, and could reportedly value the company up to $2 trillion.
