Although The Bill ended in 2010, the classic ITV police drama remains a television favourite, continuing to attract dedicated fans through regular reruns.
Across 26 years of ever-shifting casts, one of the drama's true stalwarts was Sergeant June Ackland, who made her debut in the pilot episode before the full series launched in 1984. Played by Trudie Goodwin, June remained on the beat until 2007, setting a record as the longest-serving actor to portray a police officer in British television history.
